Wright & Partners’ client Access Self
Storage have commenced site preparation works on the recently acquired former
Royal Mail depot in Bugsby Way, Charlton.
The existing warehouse, totalling
approximately 38,500 sq ft on the site of approximately 2.8 acres will be
stripped back to the frame and redeveloped to provide approximately 100,000 sq
ft of self storage accommodation and 20,000 sq ft of office space which Access
will let out to their customers. In
addition there will be approximately 20,000 sq ft of warehouse units to the
rear of the site which is already under offer, by way of a prelet, for storage
purposes.
Wright & Partners introduced the site
to Access and assisted in the negotiations with the vendors, Royal Mail. This new facility is needed to replace
Access’s current facility in nearby Greenwich with a lease expiry in late
2015. After two very competitive rounds of
bidding, Access managed to secure the property and are on schedule to have the
new facility operational by the summer of next year.
